 Rebeca
Payne and her husband, Richard, for the past 16 years or so have unselfishly
taken in and cared for abandoned, injured and abused animals, many of them
wild as well as in danger of extinction. They use mostly their own funds
to care for, shelter and feed these animals.
Now Richard is ill and they simply do not have the funds to pay for the care of the animals AND Richard's medical bills. For this reason I am making a plea to anyone who can help to PLEASE contact Rebeca and make a donation to assist her to continue providing this invaluable and thankless service for our neglected and forgotten animals who would not otherwise survive. Here are some of Rebeca's rescued animals. |

Thank you from Roberto & Lupita. *Follow-up* Our property manager located her at the veterinary supplies store where she was trying to buy medicine for some of the animals. She had run out of money so was unable to buy the medicine. Fortunately our donation arrived before she left the store. She left the store with the medicine and with tears in her eyes. It was wonderfully gratifying to receive her email. She says she is currently providing care to approximately 300 ill or injured animals, many of whom are of species that are protected or in danger of extinction. Knowing how this money is being used will more than make up for the fancy dinner we will forego to help Rebeca and the animals." |

NIÑOS
ENCANTADOS DE LA BARRA DE POTOSÍ, A.C. Niños Encantados de La Barra de Potosí A.C. is a not-for-profit civil association made up of most of the residents of La Barra de Potosí for the benefit of our children. We work with the teachers of all our three schools as well as directly in our Children's Library. We also work with the other existing village institutions such as our Casa de Salud. Working this way, we can distribute from within the village community such things as school supplies, medical supplies or clothing equally to all the children; and in the case of clothing, discreetly to those most in need, protecting the dignity and sense of fairness to all. In the case of the schoool supplies distribution, we are careful that our distributions are given in equal packets to all our 120 children and to their teachers. Our intent is to offer an opportunity to our generous and thoughtful visitors to provide help to the local community they are affecting through the impact of tourism without undermining independence, work ethic and self esteem of the individuals and our community at large. Books in Spanish, school supplies, art supplies and just about anything you might with your special experience and talents bring, will be gratefully received and put to good use.
