Enjoying Zih Freedom

Finally firing on all cylinders again after coming down with some bug after the Triatlón then having a reaction to some other medication I take for another condition. Doc gave me the thumbs up and man it feels good to be alive in this tropical paradise!

Had to laugh this morning while listening to a local radio talk show at the descriptions of this past weekend's local elections to elect comisarios for some of the townships in our municipio. Claims of blatant vote-buying by the political group that represents the main local sponsor of the Por Los Niños charity. They were almost bragging while the talk show host did his best not to simply call them corrupt. The funniest part is that while the comisarios are like local mayors, their salary is something absurd like 900 pesos a month, while the presidente municipal, the mayor of Zihuatanejo proper and chief executive of the municipality, gets paid something like 26,000 pesos every 2 weeks, though no one is really sure because like most of the local public expenses the information regarding how much everyone is paid is NOT made public even though it is supposed to be. Hmmm...

Not a day goes by that I don't give thanks to be in this simple tropical paradise far from the madness that seems to have totally engulfed most of the world. No hassle with traffic getting to work. No police. No crazy president. No NRA inciting violence. No one trying to blow anyone up. Just a lot of humble, hard-working, warm and friendly people with the blood of this land in their veins making the best of each day. Lucky me!
¡Viva Zihuatanejo!

This is another photo from yesterday afternoon. Hot but lovely. (Don't think I'll ever get used to seeing buildings on the hillsides past La Ropa Beach. Those undeveloped green hills used to be one of the loveliest picture postcard sights in the bay.)

This morning was pretty cloudy though the fishermen were busy and the sun was ready to come out (it finally did).
