Rob, Can you comment more on safety in Zihua? We have been coming to Zihua since 1987 and enjoy it very much, however we haven't been back in 5 years due to family commitments in other countries. In reading your posts I wonder if you could comment more on safety in Zihua. Your post of 8/2017 states "due to concerns with safety and ... tourism is down." I find this as well as what I read and hear all more concerning for travelling there. Never did in the past but giving it a second thought. Thoughts? Facts? Thanks.

Except for the occasional hold-up, tourists aren't generally targeted by our criminals. Take the same precautions walking around as you would anywhere. Stay alert to your surroundings. Not sure what more I can say or what facts you are asking for. The best I can do is not recommend businesses that I believe profit from the misery of others. Even then, I still get comments from people wanting to know about services I won't recommend who claim they "don't care about the local politics". So I wonder why I bother at all.

Guerrero is a lawless state, and criminals control the region, not the government. I believe the lack of response by our municipal government to the complaints by residents regarding the proliferation of bars in our downtown area including the noise and other problems they generate speaks for itself loud and clear.
