So Very Zih

Apart from Saturday's flooding downtown after a moderate rainstorm, many of us spent a lot of time watching Hurricane Irma putter out over Florida after causing major devastation to Barbuda, St. Martin, St. John, Tortola, St. Thomas and especially to Cuba. Most of the devastation on the Caribbean islands and especially in Cuba has been totally ignored by your stateside media. Amazingly the worst earthquake to hit Mexico in recorded history got a brief mention here and there until all the news stations had their "reporters" broadcasting "live from the hurricane" in Florida, then we never saw another word about any other news anywhere else in the world. Even our local news managed to keep up with the Pope's visit to Colombia where peace has broken out (two news stories I haven't seen in the U.S. media), and the major flooding in India.

I forgot to mention that we have a new rock'n'roll joint in town, "La Casa de Rock". Some of the best music in Zihuatanejo! And it's got A/C! Several local artists got together to open the place up, and it's one of the few local bars I can wholeheartedly recommend. It's located right next door to the Posada Citlali on Vicente Guerrero Street in downtown Zihuatanejo They rock early on and not too late, and the noise level is totally acceptable. These folks are setting a fine example, so we hope to see them enjoy some success. Xpresión Inmune is one of the bands that plays there. I've heard nothing but good music there. Come check them out and enjoy the ambiance!
