Max Returns to Zih

Just as we were finishing our delicious waterfront dinner at La Porteña in celebration of El Grito de Dolores last night a storm moved in seemingly out of nowhere. Consulting the weather map it sure gave the impression that Max arose from the dead and came back to haunt us. It rained fairly steady most of the night and into the morning. I thought for sure the desfile would be canceled, but around 09:00 a tránsito showed up and started informing the neighbors that we would have to move our vehicles. The parade started a little after 10:00, and it seemed to be all over by around 10:30 or so. Those poor soldiers, sailors and police who had to march for the mayor and his VIP guests, because the streets were pretty much devoid of any citizens watching the parade. The vanity of our politicians never ceases to disgust me. In Petatlán they canceled all events. Their mayor even helped to rescue citizens affected by the flooding there. Ours only shows up for photo ops. A world of difference between their mayor and ours!

Here are a couple of scenes from this morning. Follow the link below to see a brief video of the storm just outside our bay.
