The reason

Last year was the fear of Trump and Nafta, he said he was going to tear it up in the first week, risk on. Task not accomplished then the fear subsidised, risk off. We are now in the midst Nafta renegotiating, risk on.

The future of NAFTA is a major item on Canadian newscasts - and undoubtedly Mexican as well - but it's pretty ho-hum to Americans, if CNN's coverage is any yardstick. Our U.S. friends south of the border are far more interested in important things like respect for the flag and the national anthem.

(Who decided that the national anthem has any place at a sporting event, unless the competition is between teams or individuals representing their nation?)

Currency fluctuations? It's a bunch of currency manipulators sitting in front of computer screens in a dark room - probably somewhere in Nigeria or the Philippines.
