50 Shades of Zih

Lots of folks are having a rough time here in spite of the vacationers, most who haven't been purchasing much. We've had no water, no police, hardly any sales (mostly to Canadians) and I didn't dare move the car last week because I didn't feel like losing the parking space near our home. But now the second wave of vacationers has arrived and it's quite a different picture. Not so many folks carrying coolers and all their foodstuffs with them. Not so many buses. Almost everyone was complaining of the garbage left on the beaches, streets, plazas and parks last week. The worst it's ever been. While we try to welcome everyone, we hope they'll be respectful of our community, the place we call home. I'm pretty sure most of my neighbors will agree with me when I say drunks and litterers are not welcome. It isn't just about the money. It's also about respect, and I've yet to see a respectful drunk, and litterers are by definition disrespectful of our home and the natural world.

Fishermen and boat operators were out early. The catch didn't look bad in spite of the full moon. Even the sea birds were enjoying a hearty meal in our bay this morning.
