Zih Vacation Place

College students have already been back in school for a week now, and many families here on vacation will soon leave since most folks spend the last week of summer vacation getting their kids registered in school and buying school supplies and uniforms. In the past these last couple of weeks of summer vacation has usually been when we get a bit more affluent tourists, but we sure haven't noticed any this year. Everyone seems to have brought their own food and even their own tables and chairs with them while the restaurants seem to be doing a meager business at best. I had really hoped that with so many problems elsewhere such as the Sargasso weed along the coast of Quintana Roo, the violence in Acapulco, the blue-green algae and red tide on both of Florida's coasts, etcetera that we would've seen some additional tourism, but as far as I can tell no effort was made at any level by any government or private tourism sector to try to attract any tourism. I've seen almost no promo for Zihuatanejo or Ixtapa. Only a little by the federal government. Disheartening.

Today was a picture postcard perfect day in Zihuatanejo and Ixtapa. A wayward Guadalupe Fur Seal was even spotted along our coast!

Zihuatanejo Bay just couldn't have been prettier!
