Got Zih Power

We enjoyed a fabulously delicious dinner of fresh dorado last evening at Joe's Café Marina. A place where we feel at home and among family. A place with incredibly good vibes and where a cold Vicky tastes better to me than any fizzy sweet champagne.

Los Hermanos Morelos came and sang us a few kickass songs to send out the old year and ring in the new. Of course, my wife with the voice of an angel joined in with them and put me in orbit. They tried not to charge us but we insisted. Hard to believe one of the best duos in the region wasn't contracted for anyone's party, underscoring that we were indeed in the right place at the right time.

I have to commend the municipal government for the wonderful job it did managing the people, the fireworks and the cleanup the next morning. While we aren't fans of fireworks, we did watch them from our rooftop mostly to make sure nothing caught on fire. We saw an ambulance rush past and a little later a pipa escorted by police, all with sirens blaring, so somebody may have been hurt and there may have been an accident involving fireworks somewhere.

Thousands of people finally called it a night after the fireworks, and thanks to the street being closed to traffic they all were able to wander calmly off the beach and back to their lodgings. Around 2 or so it finally quieted down enough to be able to sleep. Especially thanks to the aptly named bar La Ingobernable being closed, a small miracle in itself.

We were pleasantly surprised when we hit the beach this morning before sunrise to find the cleaning brigades had been hard at work. Amazing! We have a working government again! ¡Gracias Jorge!

¡Bienvenidos a 2019!
