The big waves from the mar de fondo have caused the Capitanía del Puerto to close the pier at Playa Linda in Ixtapa and to halt the water taxi service in Zihuatanejo Bay to Las Gatas today. So if you walk to Las Gatas today you'll probably have the place mostly all to yourself.

Amazingly we are still seeing tourists here even tough it's a weekday in the middle of May. Not very usual. Both last evening and this morning we came across groups of tourists who seemed to be middle class and having a great time, just what we need! When a group of people asked me to take their photo this morning at La Madera I was happy to oblige. While taking their photo I looked up from the camera with a serious face and said "señora, ¿es ésta una sonrisa?" Everyone cracked up. CLICK. Perfect photo. The whole group laughing together. I asked them to post it here. Hopefully someone will remember what I said.

Here's the ramp from Plaza del Pescador to the beach where folks will now catch water taxis to Playa Las Gatas, except when the ocean is too rough. It's just temporary, and I hope it lasts through the rainy season.

Our friend Ezekiel aka Tata was determined to take a swim at Playa Las Manzanillas this morning. Can you spot him?
