Yesterday Mexico paid homage to and laid to rest one of its greatest singers who passed away recently in Miami, José José, El Príncipe de la Canción. From the Palacio de Bella Artes to the Basílica de Guadalupe he was honored in a gilded casket by millions before being laid to rest beside his mother. So if your are around Mexicans expect to hear a lot of his music as folks remember him and the wonderful music he made.

About 5:00 a.m. this morning I watched as two more trucks loaded with massive pilotes made their way up Juan N. Álvarez street with a police escort. The piledriver and cranes have been busy since yesterday, and two more pilings were set by the time we went by there this morning. The barges have been repaired and refloated, and it looks like they are a-rockin' and a-rollin' at the pier reconstruction site.

Two more pilings set and a bunch more were offloaded at the pier. Note the extension of the area of escombros to where other pilings have been set and cut to size from which the pier will extend.

On the way to see what was going on at the pier this morning this happened, which I thought was pretty damn cool.
