There's no escaping the cultural excesses of December. The ads have been everywhere already for the past month. Now the decorations are up (looks like they're using the same ones from last year in many places). Personally I'm not a big fan but I've got a grandchild expecting all kids of things to happen, so this is how even the reluctant get sucked in. Too much damn commercialism! Bah, HUMBUG! Makes me want to deck something all right, but not any halls. ;-)

Some guadalupanos have been passing down the street chanting at around 5 in the morning on their way to the church at Plaza Kioto. Not sure why they insist on going to the church that ISN'T named for and dedicated to their patron Guadalupe. I find that kind of insulting on top of the lack of respect for sleeping residents and visitors. They've been doing it for about 10 years or so now, so I guess it's become a "tradition". But apparently even among themselves there's some disagreement because there are two separate groups, not one. They couldn't even agree to march together to the wrong church at 5 in the morning. Weirdness.

Last night it sprinkled again. The only clouds over the entire state were over Zihuatanejo and Petatlán. Lluvia de milagro.

Speaking of milagros, thank you to everyone donating reading glasses to folks who need them but can't afford them. You make beautiful smiles like this possible. ¡Gracias!

Sure looks like paradise to me!
