Playas Mochadas y ReduZIHdas

Zihuatanejo is currently registering only 62 active cases of Covid-19, down considerably from previous days. La Unión currently registers 10, and Petatlán only 4.

While the number of deaths from last week's earthquake was low, officially only 3, the number of people left homeless is considerable at over 15,000, affecting over 7,800 dwellings in 40 of Guerrero's 81 municipios. Let's hope they receive the assistance they need swiftly.

I was informed this morning that there'd been no cell service for 2 days in Troncones. Not sure if it's been restored yet, but I reported it this morning for a friend there.

Zihuatanejo awoke to dark skies and large waves washing all the way up and over most of our beaches thanks to the storm off our coast and the huge waves of a mar de fondo phenomenon. The port was closed as was the channel to Marina Ixtapa. Someone's panga got loose and was getting bounced around in the waves on the beach. I hope it was rescued and not severely damaged. The entrance to the pier was flooded with waves washing over it. See the webcam.

¡Cuidemos nuestro patrimonio!

Between the Remodelación, the mar de fondo and a storm off our coast, our poor Playa Municipal is looking rather puny today. Going to have to change the name to Playa Mochada.
