Taking cats to Mexico

We will be coming down for an extended period (at least five weeks) on April 20. For the first time we will be bringing our two cats. We will be flying on Alaska Airlines from YVR to LAX and on to ZIH the same day. Does anyone have any tips for us?

I understand that we have to have a certificate of health issued no more than 10 days before we enter Mexico. We have the appointment with the vet for April 12. We know we have to have an IATSA-standards travel crate for each cat. We are working on that.

Any other tips?
