passage thru Juarez

My family and I are scheduled to go to El Paso in July via a taxi from Juarez airport. We have two choices: stay at a Juarez hotel and take a taxi early in the morning or take a taxi late at night and stay at a hotel in El Paso.

Have any of the users of this board traveled by land from Juarez to El Paso. Any opinions as to which option is safer?
