Posted this on Trip Advisor as well. Planning on touring again next year..keep up the good work Avi!

Had the great good fortune to do a lagoon tour wth Avi (aka Sharkboy ) on Feb 4. We have been visiting La Barra for 7 years and have done a lagoon tour previously as well as kayak rentals. This trip we brought 2 other couples who had not been to this part of Mexico before. Needless to say they plan to come back and Avi's tour was one of the highlights of our 10 days in La Barra.

Avi speaks very good English and has done a lot of work on identifying birds, plants and animals. We met him at 8am for a scheduled 2 hour tour...which ended up being 3 hours!

Avi had the patience and care required for photographing birds and stopped or backed up many times to accomodate the professional photographers on board as well as the rest of us with our poiint and shoots!

At one point he anchored the boat and we went for a short walk through the mangroves, up a channel to a salt flat where he identified animal tracks ( deer, racoon) and particular plants that grow in this unique ecosystem.

Back at the boat we had a chance to try and net crabs and Avi threw a casting net and hauled in some small local fish ( which we enjoyed for dinner that evening.. fried Mexican style.. he even wrote down instructions for us on exactly how they were to be cooked!)

Avi is working hard to establish a solid eco tourism business. It's obvious that he loves the land and his village and we look forward to going back on another tour next year. I cannot recommend this trip enough.. a great day trip from Z when combined with a lunch (or brunch ) at La Condessa enramada afterwards . We opted for brunch and had great chilaquiles.. they're not on the menu but just ask.

Here's the link to Avi's web site. He responded quickly by email when I was setting up our trip.
