Trip report

Here’s bits and pieces trip report. We landed on Saturday at 2 P.M. and we were the only plane load coming into customs and breezed right through. Just had to take a picture of the drug dog walking over all the suit cases as they were loaded onto the conveyor belt. Upon exiting customs we were greeted by a beautiful young lady friend of ours who delivered us to our hotel and then joined us that evening at Inferno E La Gloria in Ixtapa for a celebration margarita, their outstanding black bean dip and a great combination plate. Good way to kick off our trip. On Sunday we visited with our godson and family in Zihua and than over to meet up with a new friend at Villas Carolina for a cocktail and some scrumptious hors d’oeuvres made from fresh fish he caught that morning. Then the 4 of us were off to Lety’s for dinner where we were joined by the ever charming LadyM. Good friends and good food make for a great evening.

Monday was spent at Ixtapa Island where I continue to be amazed at the health of the expanding coral reef there. The snorkeling was the best we have ever experienced in our 20 plus years there. We even went back a week later just to see if we were dreaming. My wife said it was like snorkling in a giant aquarium full of fish life.

We spent a couple days of just walking the streets of Zihua, an afternoon at Las Gatas and just general R&R. Come Thursday we were all set to do a little Pozole at Santa Presca when our friend Lupita suggested a new place in La Puerta Ixtapa called “No Se Lo Digas A Nadie” which in English is “don’t tell anybody”. The Pozole is outstanding and the entertaining was “interesting” to say the least. Transvestites doing Mexican and Latin pop artist songs.

On Friday we went to Los Achotes to visit the girl we helped put through school. We helped her starting with seventh grade until her graduation last year from college. She is now married with 2 little girls of her own. How time has flown. Back to Zihua for dinner at Any’s and a couple cold ones at Zorro’s. The icicle lights around town have got to go.

More later.
