\Daylight I'd head for El Paso. Border cities are no longer reasonable as far as compelling a person to stay there for $$$

But play musical anagram with cartel initials and you have Ciudad Juarez. It isn't especially the cartel balaceros to worry about, it's that the cops all go home and hide at night.

Local Joke (translated)

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Two Cops in un patrulla

"Juanito! Look! That carro is full of men carrying automatic rifles and grenade launchers!"

(Juanito) Quick! Turn on the lights and siren and radio la co
mandancia! We have to get the hell out of here!"

passage thru Juarez (reply)

Those are some pretty crummy options. If it were me, I think I'd be staying at the closest chain hotel to the airport, rather than drive around Juarez late at night these days.

passage thru Juarez (reply)

Zero reason to stay over in Juarez. I'm a (retired) sales mgr for Mexico and even my then (Mexican citizen) sales agent for the Juarez region has moved both his office and residence to El Paso due to security concerns. Reality is, there is no safe area in Juarez these days and there's nothing cultural to see anyway. Not anything to see in El Paso either, but at least you're safer.

passage thru Juarez

My family and I are scheduled to go to El Paso in July via a taxi from Juarez airport. We have two choices: stay at a Juarez hotel and take a taxi early in the morning or take a taxi late at night and stay at a hotel in El Paso.

Have any of the users of this board traveled by land from Juarez to El Paso. Any opinions as to which option is safer?

Thanks,

Eric
