Trip report day ? (reply)

Doubtless, we will see you there. We fly out of Chicago and things are not moving interms of price. Highest we have ever seen. And for slow season, I fear it speaks to what markets are in favor in the Chicago area. But we will pay the freight. Not going is not possible.

Fran, I'm also at Catalina booked for 12/8-15. I'm flying from Denver and also have been very concerned about reasonable flights the past year. For me I was expecting to pay at least $600 but happened on a USAIRWAYS flight through Phoenix for $548 and jumped on it---reasonable flying times and connections and Phoenix is so much preferred over Houston. For the first time I booked a package including the Catalina and got a standard casita for $22 less than what Catalina could offer. All-in-all I'm really pleased with this deal but I still long for the $350 non-stop flights on Frontier the first time I came to Z. I'm originally from Green Bay, so I'm familiar with your home in the North country!

We plan the same trip, generally the week after Thanksgiving staying for two weeks. It's a great time to be in Zihuatanejo. But then, really haven't hit on a bad time.

We have Catalina booked. Hoping for some break in air fare soon.

Try early Dec for the same vibe--slow, dollar stretches, no crowds, beach to yourself--but more local culture around Lady of Guadalupe day usually around Dec 12--parades, music on the boats on the day and many el centro activities. Each year I plan a trip at that time--I think you'd love it. The weather always cooperates with days the same as Jan-Apr but low season prices. Only downside: not all restaurants open but still plenty to choose from. It's all quite perfect. Enjoy your trip reports--you capture the simple essence of why we come to Z, no plan, nothing hurried.

Another day in paradise sunny and hot and 90 yesterday afternoon .Took a walk into town to take a few photos and hopped a cab back to the hotel . Splashed in the pool for awhile then another walk to LaRopa for a lunch break ..the clouds started to roll in to cool the day off just in time for dinner at Tentaciones ..what a dinner ! And what a view ! Eggplant wrapped with goat cheese, shrimp salad with a blackberry vinaigrette ,coconut and almond soup with sage oil, Mahi Mahi on a bed of risotto , and dessert of apple tart and ice cream ,and a after dinner dessert cocktail,...ahhhhhh.. Took a lot of photos of the lights of Zihua awesome shots what a great day . All I know eating and drinking like this I'm going to gain a few pounds before I return from this vacation..maybe I should walk for a few miles up and down these hills to burn some of those calories off ...? ...or sit on the beach have a few cold ones and think about it ...I like option two ...
