While we are on the subject.
The peanut kid, why doesn't he sell salted peanuts? Nobody wants unsalted peanuts!
If your going to drag a sack of peanuts on a beach all day why not something somebody wants! Maybe Mexicans don't eat salted peanuts but the tourists do.
What do you think?

Do a test market. Buy a small supply of salted peanuts and give to the peanut vendor to sell. Results will tell.

Salt is bad for your heart. Maybe because we don't eat salted peanuts at the beach is why many locals live to be 100?

Actually, to be a pedantic A**hole, the correct expression is "The proof of the pudding is in the eating." :stirpot: :jeer:

Just another data point...

Note that Mexico does not screen agricultural products for the presence of Aflatoxins and Mycotoxins, except for cereals and grains used as ingredients in preparing commercial products.

Chances are those peanuts sold on the beach (or used to make local peanut butter) have not been tested.

Aflatoxin is particularly nasty, and regularly consuming large amounts of contaminated peanuts puts you at an elevated risk of liver cancer.

Even if you're not allergic to peanuts or peanut products in the States, exposure to peanuts containing large amounts of aflatoxin spores can cause an allergic reaction. Dry roasting reduces the aflatoxin concentration, but only by 20% to 30%.

Google it for more info.

FWIW...

holy Mole, Did my post get high jacked by a bunch of health crazy's. Are you the same guys I see laying on the beach all day eating and drinking and getting Melanoma's? And do you think the meat that was hanging in the unrefrigerated market was government inspected? (Sorry I had too much coffee this morning, I'll go now)

Is there some reason this odd post is directed at me? Or were you just making a common or garden variety exclamation? I get that a lot.

Oh - we used to sit at Paty's and eat and drink all day, but switched to Coke, in protest, when she upped her beer price to 25 pesos a dozen years ago. Gotta draw the line somewhere.

An interesting example, and I'm still not convinced my punctuation was incorrect. But you surely caught my drift.
