Love For Zih

My wife wasted numerous phone calls to supposed "public servants" in charge of our municipio's ecology and wildlife AND NOT FRIGGIN' ONE could be bothered to DO THEIR JOB to retrieve an injured pelican that had spent two days on the beach at Playa Las Manzanillas between downtown and Playa La Madera. The office of Ecología said to call PROFEPA and PROFEPA said to call Ecología. I am disgusted at their responses to the repeated pleas by my saint of a wife, but it has been typical of the current administration to demonstrate over and over that they have no love for our community, only for their personal benefit. They could care less about doing anything that doesn't potentially translate into a bloc of votes or directly put money in their pockets, which is why they've spent all their energies pandering to the squatter communities while completely ignoring the residents of downtown, La Madera and La Ropa who actually ask questions and seek a measure of public accountability before they vote.

¿CON QUE DERECHO MORAL COBRAN SUS SUELDOS ESTOS FUNCIONARIOS PÚBLICOS INÚTILES?

So after again getting the runaround from our useless municipal "authorities" this morning my wife and another kind lady trapped the injured pelican with a towel and took it to Enrique Krebs at the Sociedad Protectora de Animales de Zihuatanejo (SPAZ), proving once again why they deserve our unconditional respect and support and why our so-called municipal authorities do not.

Other than that it was a lovely morning on the downtown waterfront, and we enjoyed a delicious breakfast at El Buen Sazón next to the laundromat on Vicente Guerrero street. ¡Viva Zihuatanejo!

I also understand that the road is destroyed going up past La Ropa. Any thoughts about that getting repaired.

I'm certainly not thinking about it. Maybe some developer is.

Café Marina aka Joe's Pizza is open again after a month off. Joe has spruced the place up a bit a gotten rid of a lot of the old books that no one was ever going to read again (my wife got the public library to accept them). Good to see him open and bringing life back to that section of the waterfront. Some of the best food in town! And a great location.

Glad he is open again. So far just breakfast and lunch. Not sure when he will start serving dinner.

El Buen Sazón

Is this a new restaurant in this location, or is it the same one that has great food, and some Chinese? We really enjoyed it, especially when we were doing laundry next door!

They've been there for a couple of years....where Mi Chayito was before. The latter, in spite of its name, had Mexican and Chinese food. We've only been to the original location of El Buen Sazon, a couple of blocks over (on Catalina Gonzalez?) and I don't recall them having any Chinese....but excellent chiles rellenos.
