Not happening today. They are building 2 bars in the back under the palapa cover. Doesn't look like there will many tables back there. From what I could see they are at least 3 weeks away from finishing. ( Mexican weeks).

Not going to be fun anyway with that frigging loud Zumba music and ladies yipping and yelling next door at Paty's. Gone are the days of a peaceful quiet breakfast on the beach. The 21st century has found La Ropa. Damn it!

Bummer that they won’t be open next week but happy to hear they are working towards it. Thanks for the update, Dave.

Elvira’s on La Ropa - Noise at Paty's??

We love having breakfast or lunch there, since we stay near by. What sort of noise? When? Something new?

Go down to Paty's or Dona Prudencia or Elvira's (when they re-open) at breakfast time and you will hear it. Loud, bass driven music to which the people on Paty's roof do their Zumba thing while yipping and screaming.

I like the yoga as it is peaceful and relaxing but not the Zumba noise.

Of course some Zumba person is going to be offended by what I have written.

Elvira’s on La Ropa - Noise at Paty's??

by JACK @, Tuesday, November 21, 2017, 11:38 (243 days ago) @ DaveT

There is a sign at the entrance of each beach with all the beach regulations, one of which says:

SE PROHIBE ESCUCHAR MUSICA A ALTO VOLUMEN
(It is prohibited listen to music at high volume)

This nonsense happens all over La Ropa and La Playa Principal.
We need a new government that will enforce the laws.

Well, apparently, it's illegal to LISTEN to loud music, but not illegal to PLAY loud music. I love it.

Hola Dave T.

Here is an excerpt from your comment, I will put my two "sense" in on----

" Gone are the days of a peaceful quiet breakfast on the beach. The 21st century has found La Ropa. Damn it! "

Yes, I.M.O. in general, the noise contamination all over Z really detracts, and to some extent, ruins ones experience. A "peaceful quiet" Z experience, whether it be breakfast on the beach as you noted, or elsewhere, is difficult to come by.
The noise contamination is just about impossible to get away from. :-(

My experience as a resident here in Z, shows that, most, if not ALL of it, is intertwined in some type or another of alcohol based activity.

Example:
A recently renovated bar called "Ingobernable" (something like that) which is on the top floor of the building in front of the abandoned modulo de la Policia Preventiva, just to the side of La Cancha, constantly contaminates that area with noise pollution. While there at La Cancha, one is forced to listen to the noise generated by that bar, like it or not. Too bad.
And as we here have observed, the supposed local "authorites" are useless and/or unwilling to control the situation, and bring the needed peace and quiet we once knew many, many years ago in Z.

That sounds like what used to be called "Carlos" bar, and it's been the loudest place along that stretch of Juan Alvarez for years. No disrespect intended, but these noise complaints have been a fixture of Zihua for as long as we've been coming down.....and are unlikely to change. As much as we enjoyed staying right down in Centro, we finally gave up and moved to quieter surroundings.
Mexicans are like that artillery guy in Good Morning Vietnam:
"Play it loud, OK?"

We loved Centro also, but the loud music till 4 am made it to hard to sleep. Our room was on the pedestrian street- we loved the balcony sitting with a glass of wine watching the people walking by. Made a commit to the manager and was told we could take one of the smaller room in side. That's when we quit going to Centro and have been back one time and the noise was still terrible. We love the location of Villa Mercedes and the rooms go fast because of returning guest- be there in 6 weeks.
