This may be old news to some Vancouverites, but Air Canada is operating some non-stops YVR-ZIH again. I tend to be stuck with Alaska's crappy sched as I need the points doh...

I learned about the AC flight after yesterday's ZIH flight aborted take-off in the snow, and sat on the taxiway for 5 hours....

That's Gotta Suck!!

I think after the first hour, I would be contemplating grabbing my chest, and doing a Crappie Flop to get us back to a gate.

No kidding. Apparently the nose wheel threw up so much slush it got sucked into one engine, which didn't take to it too well....

According to local news reports it was Aero Mexico, which is an Air Canada partner.

Years ago I had booked YVR to MEX through Air Canada and it was the Aero Mexico Red Eye daparting at midnight. Other than the time, it was an excellent flight.

AeroMexico is no longer partners with Air Canada and Star Alliance. Aero Mexico is now partners with WestJet and that group for the last year. Armando

This is pretty typical of Scair Canada. They do this all the time. they run into a problem and they leave passengers sitting for hours and hours! And then if you have to wait until the next day they don't cover your overnight expenses!

AC covered taxi home and back to airport next morning. Also $500 credit for future flight. I was on board; we waited about 3 hours to get de-iced and then attempted take-off which had to be aborted. Waited another 45 minutes on tarmac to be assessed and then returned to gate.
AC not favourite airline but appreciate seasonal direct flight with 9AM departure. Re-scheduled flight on Wednesday was fine...other than 1 hour delayed departure. Lol

AC offers the direct flights only during the high season, ending in early April to get their passengers back to Canada. It’s got a very civilized departure time from Vancouver of about 9:30 AM.

A lot of Canadians prefer not to connect thru the US. Nothing wrong with the USA, but the added time and hassle of having to collect your luggage and dropping it off. It has gotten better, but the unfriendly border agents was reason enough to avoid. Air canada is constantly voted North America’s best airline, by skytraks as well. The top of the bottom feeders. Alaska and Aeromexico are parting ways dec 31 as well., no doubt a result of the Alaska, Virgin , merger.
