Las Brisas Ixtapa - rooms / floors

My husband and I just booked a week at this all inclusive hotel. Can someone give us an idea of which floor/rooms we should stay in?

Also, has anyone stayed there recently? Is the food as good as it used to be? We haven't stayed there for a while so I'm just wondering if their excellent food and service has held up through the years. Thanks in advance.

All of the rooms are lovely and have spectacular views and I am sure that you will be comfortable in any of them. We prefer the 18th floor for the simple reason being that is the ground floor so we don't have to wait for elevators when going out or to the lobby or to the concierge.

We eat out most often but make it a point to stay in a few nights to enjoy dinners at Brisas 2 and Portofino and El Mexicano. They are all very good but I particularly love the setting at Brisas 2. One thing to be aware of though is there are no children under 12 at Brisas 2 or Portofino. They are allowed at Mexicano. Cheers!!

There are several ways you can loose your peso's in the zihua/ixtapa area. Make sure you check your bill at the restaurants. Like anywhere, there are discrepensy's sometimes. When you get you your hotel make sure it is what you paid for. Hotels will give you a lesser room hoping you are tired and will not say anything. Don't loose your money in a timeshare. Many people have made that mistake. The old $500 peso vs $50 peso trick is sometimes used. Make sure you get the correct change. The taxi drivers at times charge differing rates, but it is still a good deal. The old I don't have any change trick is used. They hope you will say, just keep it.

I have never seen pickpockets but it is advisable to watch where you leave your items unintended.

Anyway, that's about it.:-D :-D

I don't care for 19-21st floors because if there is a party in the lobby or late night revelers, the sound bounces off the walls and right into your room. 18 is the lobby level, but again, noise can be a problem close to the lobby. get a room away from the lobby if you are on 18. Anything 12-17 is fine by me.
