Has anyone eaten at the new Kau Kan in Ixtapa ? I have heard the view is incredible but I would also like some nice food to with it.

Yes, we did. Search on the board for my review. It was at the beginning of January. Food as fantastic as always, not sure we are going back.

Has this restaurant replaced the original on Zihua Bay?
And is this new one where La Selva was?
It sorta looks like the same locale.

Yes to the first, no to the second.

The one in Zihua is no longer there? That was our favorite

Just got back from eating there tonight. The menu is very similar to the original. Great food and great service. The entrance and view are spectacular but in a different way from Zihua Bay. I will certainly go back. The check for three including one appetizer three entrees and three desserts was 1900 MXP plus propina.

Well, heck!
I'll walk by the old place and have a look-see.
I'm guessing it will become part of the new condo development.

We ate there the other night. Here are our candid comments, for what they're worth.

The view and setting are incredible. The place is a bit pricey for Zihuatanejo, but certainly not unreasonable and much cheaper than "back home." Entrees topped out at about 550 pesos.

The food was a bit disappointing given the stunning locale. Some dishes were very good, but my wife's tuna was greatly overcooked and a friend's filet mignon was an indifferent cut that was drenched in sauce (as steak so often is in Mexico).

These comments are made relative to a restaurant that should be the best in town. If the kitchen could get their act together this could truly be a world class venue.
