When I ordered the android tv box, was suggested that I subscribe to a VPN Service. So many things coming into play now the more I explore the internet not knowing anything about starting with the android box.

We use Trust Zone for our VPN. A VPN changes your location and computer id so that if someone wants to harass you for doing "illegal" things on your computer, they can't find you.

In California, we were sent threats by our internet provider for one download that we did, so we subscribed to a VPN. Maybe not necessary in Mexico, but a little caution can be a good thing.

I was told I should subscribe to a VPN for traveling because of the unsecure wifi sites. In the States I use my Cell phone to Tether my lap top when we are in a hotel. Maybe slower, but safer.

A VPN also allows you to set your location to a place where you would have the right to receive broadcasts that are otherwise location restricted. For example, if you subscribe back home to a TV provider, that provider only has rights to broadcast to your home country. When you are in Mexico you can use the VPN to fool the TV provider as to your location, thus allowing you to receive TV from back home. I have heard that Canadians use this to watch curling and hockey while on winter vacations in warmer locales.:-D

Occasionally we have run across a website that wouldn't let us check our account (electric, gas) unless we were in the US. The VPN took care of that.

I have noticed when out side the States, I could not log in certain accounts. While in Poland in September I needed to make a payment for my car insurance and I could not log in- at least they waived the late fee.

Hola. I have never had a problem paying bills in Canada from Mexico from my Canadian accounts. Don't need VPN or whatever else people need to pay accounts. I like the anonymity feature that VPN offers, but so far I have had no problem with my banks. Knock on wood.
