Best place to get Tiritas on La ropa

Good morning,

We are looking for a great place to get nice and spice Tiritas on La ropa? Or in town if not on La ropa. 3 years ago we had it prepared amazingly in troncones but we have only found a bland version so far in zihua. Any suggestions would be very appreciated.

Thanks!

Tiritas have only 5 ingredients! When they have the Tiritas festival the rules state: los restauranteros presentarán sus platillos con solo 5 ingredientes básicos: filete de pescado, cebolla, chile, limón y sal.

So for spicy only possible to add more of these ingredients.

Hands down the best tiritas at Playa La Ropa can be found at Restaurante Rossy's at the southern end of the beach. La Perla comes in a real close second. You can't go wrong with either place. It has always been thus. ;-)

I have yet to find bad tiritas in Zihua. It is pretty basic and as long as the fish is fresh, it is hard to screw it up. But the flavour may also be different depending on the fish they used that day. I like them all but very much enjoy the one on the Madera beach, at La Rana Rene, the first restaurant when you arrive on the beach from the hotel Irma side.

Was just there today and although not an expert on tiritas they were pretty good with a few different additions that I liked.

Best place to get Tiritas in Town!

We have never had tiritas we haven't loved, but after the tiritas and oyster vendors were removed from the south end of Playa la Ropa, we have been looking for a good easy place to get them.

We found it! On Catalina Gonzalez, one block off of Benito Juarez, next to Merza is a Pescaderia. It's been there a couple of years, before that it was a chicken place. We've read their sign many times and finally this morning, bought. A kilo of tiritas is 200p. We just polished off half a kilo between the two of us (!) with a beer and they were excellent! We choose to bring them home rather than eat there.

Now to try other things on their list/menu!

The Tiritas Festival is not to be missed.

If memory serves, Chendos won the 1st prize at the tiritas festival 2 years ago.

So has the festival happened already?
Also someone In this group mentioned a local newspaper, maybe online that had information about upcoming events at the town square/basketball court. Anyone?

I'm not sure if its tiritas or ceviche, but past La Ropa, as you start walking out to Las Gates there is sort of a "pop-up" restaurant, with tables. I love that place and the view from there. Someone above posted that the vendors at the south end of La Ropa aren't there anymore.
Hopefully not referring to this place.

Not there anymore.

When the new administration enforced the permits etc., a number of business that had "popped up" either had to get permits or go away.

The first time we had tiritas was on our first trip to Zihua. We went fishing and the captain of the panga prepared them on the stern of the boat, from one of the fish I had just caught, while we were still underway. Delicious! Couldn't possibly be any fresher.

I’ve had tiritas at most places on La Ropa. All good. But if you are looking for spicy, I’d try El Manglar. They’re definitely not bland. And very well prepared.
