I’ve never stayed, there, but I have an extremely positive opinion of this property. I especially like its location in a peaceful wooded neighborhood. The only possible drawback is that unless you rent a car you would be dependent on expensive taxis to get anywhere unless you don’t mind walking about a kilometer to the road (shorter if you know the shortcut).

The taxis are not that expensive-certainly affordable for someone who can afford to spend a month here. 100 pesos gets you almost anywhere. Golandrinas is the street that starts across from the street that takes you to Las Brisas. it winds around the golf course to the back side of the shopping center. Not familiar with the particular property you mentioned as there are several apartments, condos and homes back there. Most are pretty nice.

I know you mean well, but with all due respect most people who spend any amount of time here, especially locals, think the taxis in Ixtapa are particularly expensive, charging more than their Zihuatanejo counterparts for much shorter distances, and when they read comments like yours (and they do) they are inspired to raise their rates even more or at the very least to gouge foreigners and deny rides to Mexicans. When visitors toss around hundred peso bills like Monopoly money, it only causes prices to rise, and those of us who earn a living here who aren't narcos or políticos only see our meager pesos able to purchase less and less. So please, try seeing things from a local perspective. Locals already have a hard enough time getting taxis whenever there are foreigners around because too many taxi drivers believe they can get away with gouging foreigners instead of having to abide by the official rates for centavo-pinching locals. Local business owners would much rather see you make purchases in their establishments than to have you waste money unnecessarily just to get around. If you stay in Ixtapa and take a taxi more than four times a day you might save money by renting a car. Especially if you want to go to any other beaches besides Ixtapa's El Palmar.
Saludos.

I certainly don't mean to make life more difficult for the locals. I think the taxi drivers see more opportunities to rip people off than posts on here. I look at it from a different perspective from the problematic transportation situation that your post portrays. my post was to help give them confidence that this was a decent place to stay in Ixtapa, hopefully bringing a repeat visitor to the area.

Hola.
We will be in Zihua for our annual winter visit in a couple of weeks. I will take a couple of printouts of the taxi rates that Rob posts. If a taxi driver shows me a fake paper list of his rates I will show him the real rates. We have a driver that we use constantly. He never rips us off. Tips for other drivers depend on the service we get. When and if we tip we never overtip in respect to the locals

Please be aware that taxis at Sitios such as at hotels are authorized to charge higher rates.

Is the taxi rank down below Los Delfinas on the La Ropa Rd considered a "sitio"? If so, looks like our costs will increase significantly, since there's no other choice when leaving Paty's Mar y Mar. Last season we spent just under $1000 Canadian on taxis in 3 months. This season it'll be 4 months.
We'll probably take a combi to the beach and walk down the hill. Can no longer manage the uphill walk.

Yes, it is a sito.

The walk just up to los delfines isn't very steep, no where near as steep as the main road. We carry our boards up and down there most days. Hopefully you will be able to manage it.

The hotel is clean, well maintained, and staffed by experienced, professional and pleasant personnel.
