I Can Zih Clearly Now!

In case you missed it, the dates for the Carnaval Zihuatanejo 2020 have been set. Please see their poster on my Community Notices & Events page.

And tonight there is going to be a huge traditional gastronomic event at the Cancha Municipal starting just before sunset. Come on downtown to the waterfront and meet some local families and enjoy the best food in the world! The ambience and the weather will be PERFECT, guaranteed!

Lupita also sends a heartfelt GRACIAS to all the extremely kind people who have brought her reading glasses to distribute, including sunglasses for the fishermen.

My sweetie snuck out to the pier and took some photos this morning while I thought she was just making coffee. She's a sneaky one! Coffee was perfect and so were the photos she brought back.

This baby is almost finished!

Looks like the pier extends further out into the bay than the previous one. Optical illusion?

It is built to exactly the same specs as the previous one with the addition of a third landing pier on the western side for the water taxis and pangas. Oh, and except for additional seating and the concrete shade roofs planned.

So does Lupita want reader sunglasses or just straight sunglasses for the fishermen?

where have you found "reader sunglasses".
Never looked but never noticed them anywhere.
Are they common?

Occasionally you can find them in a Walgreens, rite aid, type, but typically online. Just Google them.

Just plain old cheap sunglasses, polarized to protect their eyes. It's surprising the number of our commercial fishermen who don't have them and who are risking their eyesight. Even though a lot of them work at night, many must return to the bay looking directly into the sun if they've been fishing anywhere to the north at night, as many do. And of course there are many who fish during the day, including some who head out 30 or so miles to try to catch tuna. A lot of these folks are developing cataracts from not using sunglasses.

Since most of us who wear glasses look up and around more, rather than down at something that needs to be read, I'm curious why Lupita prefers donations of reading glasses to the other kind.

Lupita is not an optometrist or an opthamologist and she has no business fitting people for prescription glasses.

Reader sunglasses......Costco usually has a package of 3 for about $30. Also Amazon that where we got my last pair. More variety there.
