Lap top repair part 2

by Casa Juan @, Monday, February 10, 2020, 13:20 (56 days ago)

So my lap top was repaired by Dell under warranty in US in late Jan 20 and is enroute back to Zihua office of Fed Ex. I have paperwork showing I shipped the lap top north, a letter from Dell indicating they repaired it and the shipping docs reflecting trip back.

the Mexican government seeks to impose a $3200 tax on me getting my own lap top back after repairs. I have spoken to Fed Ex here and internationally and they offer no help. This was not a case of me taking two lap tops into the country.

Any ideas on how I can get the tax eliminated or reduced? Gracias

We are about to need a couple of new computers, and in the past we have always found amazing deals on used ones.

We learned several years ago that you can't ship a used computer into the country, but if you do manage to the import duty is excessive.

IF you can, have it returned to Dell, then shipped to someone in the US who can bring it down. We had a regular here bring down one for us, she saved out butts.

Please post as to how this works out. Good Luck

If you are able to read Spanish then look up the law regarding what is exempt from import tax. Otherwise I recommend consulting a lawyer. Aren’t you a legal resident?

Whatever you do, get the names and positions of whoever is telling you to pay this.
