Does anyone know if the border is closed between Guerrero and Michoacan? I heard it was. We were planning on driving to the US border later this month. Thanks

It is not.

You really should do the drive to the US border on toll roads. It's a great adventure no matter where you choose to cross into the US.

Here is a site that has good information: https://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/listings/forum/66

Although it's designed for RVers it is the best place to get road condition reports and suggestions as to routes to take in my opinion.

Thanks. I've driven the roads for 12 years so am well aware of the tolls and the scenery.

The state borders are not closed, they are blindadas meaning you will likely be screened and asked a few questions. Foreigners might get a little extra attention. Have fun getting across the U.S. border.

Can't imagine why anyone would leave here at this moment, especially to go to the USA or even the border region, but that's up to you.

We so agree with you about where we want to be. That is HERE!!

There are absolutely no problems with crossing the border into the US and or Canada as long as you are have passports and are legally eligible to do so. A number of friends, both from Canada and the US have driven back since the borders were "closed" only to find it is easier than ever before to cross.

US and Canadian border crossings

Please note that Canadians transiting through the United States southern land border with onward travel to Canada to return home have generally had their travel considered essential and were able to enter the US. However, given evolving requirements and border restrictions, we recommend travellers to check the situation with US authorities prior to departure: https://www.cbp.gov/ . All travellers must be asymptomatic and must not have visited China, Iran, and European Schengen area, United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland in the last 14 days (this list may change, please check prior to travelling). Note that the decision to admit you to the United States rests with US authorities. Travellers must carry valid travel documents, and meet all applicable border requirements.

Friend left here a few days ago heading home to Canada. Entered the US in Texas, crossed right over, no temp taken, no questions.

It's pretty much business as usual, with no lines.

I crossed the USA border from Canada on Thursday, it was deserted in both directions, asked several questions.

Within a hour my phone started recieving texts from Homeland Security and the CDC.

Obviously the phone carriers are sharing data with people who travel internationally.

You actually left Canada and crossed the border into the epicenter of the virus? Voluntarily? You have confirmed my suspicions.

So now you are self isolating in the USA for 14 days. Right?

US and Canadian border crossings

by ZihuaRx @, Saturday, April 04, 2020, 10:26 (90 days ago) @ el vagabundo

I drove across (Laredo crossing) two weeks ago from tomorrow. Times have changed since then, but essential travel across the Mexican-US and US-Canadian border had already been implemented. When I got to the US border (around 1030 am on a Sunday) I was the only one crossing. Had a nice chat with the gal on the Mexican side and then we wished each other well. When I came to the US crossing a nice young man asked me what I had. I told him a couple of dogs, some dog food that I bought in Mexico and in my cooler I had some wonderful Oaxaca rope cheese (Bernardo's) that I bought from a guy on a beach that he pulled out of a pail. I had some cut up chicken that I bought on a street in Zihuatanejo and I had some tortillas, tomatoes and onions. I mentioned that these are probably not allowed, but except for getting gas and one hotel room I planned on physical distancing. He said it sounds like a good idea and wished me safe travels. Another good person. Naturally the only hassle I had was crossing back into my home country where the remaining chicken and cheese had to be confiscated, filed, and put into a sealed plastic bag while I waited in a room with several other people. Left Zihua on a Saturday and was home by 10 pm Monday. Stay safe everyone. This too will pass.

That's one way to deal with it.

Tibetans would like to be there as consciously and completely as possible:
