As of last evening there have been a total of 258 total cases of Covid-19 confirmed to date in Zihuatanejo. A total of 135 people have recovered from the virus but unfortunately there has also been a total of 38 deaths.

¡Felicidades a todas las secretarias hoy en su día! Gracias por hacer lucir y funcionar bien tantos negocios y oficinas. No quiero ni imaginar qué haría yo sin mi secre.

For those of you here or coming soon, please remember that besides Covid-19, Guerrero is also suffering un brote de dengue. Not sure why, but there has been no fumigation in el Centro, and from what I hear not in any other of the colonias or communities either. So please take care not to leave standing water around outside, and use repellent if you plan on being outdoors especially at dusk when the zancudos make their rounds.

If you plan on coming here for vacation please consider signing up for a tour or a cruise now and sending in your deposit. Lots of businesses including sportfishing, whale watching, surfing and guided tours have not had any clients for several months, and your deposits will help them get back on their feet and offer a better service.

They did? With a truck?

Yep, with a small truck and clouds of fumes rising above the houses.

If they don't repeat it again in three days it's all just for show. Everyone downtown and in La Noria has been complaining.

Then it was just for show. It has to be repeated within 3 or 4 days to be effective.

COVID-19 and dengue aren't enough?

Now there's been a few cases of bubonic plague in Mongolia.

Sure hope Trump's in jail by the time that sucker hits the western hemisphere.

Amen, brother.

With The Chump now trying to hide all the info from the hospitals, the plague could hit and the federal government wouldn't report it. Hell, The Chump would try to cover up a meteor heading straight for us if he thought it would help his reelection chances. He couldn't care less about the lives of others.

It is interesting that people need to connect the dots from mosquitoes to politics.

Too much hate or just bored?

Politics ruin the Board. I will kick my 2 cents in but would rather politics be left off the Board. No one is going to change their view point no matter how much they are berated. That's Rob's Call.

I was thinking the same thing after reading the following comment above by Ironwood:

"COVID-19 and dengue aren't enough?

COVID is not Trump's fault. Get used to Trump because he will ge re-elected again. Anyone voting for Sleepy Joe should have their head examined. My first and last political comment.

I've been reading this board for years but it's really starting to bother me. Keep your frigging politics off the board.

Excuse me, but U.S. politicians, mainly the Idiot-in-Chief, are RESPONSIBLE for their actions which not only have caused deaths in their country but in Mexico (as well as the deaths of Mexicans in the USA whether at the hands of white nationalists or the out-of-control virus), and now we can't expect many tourists from the USA because the contagion is going through a worse second wave than the first go around. If the truth hurts then go hide in a cave or your closet away from sources of exterior information.

i'm sure the FBers who ban political discussions would love to console you with info about happy hours you won't be enjoying and bang for your buck that is rather pointless at the moment if discussions about cold and hard reality upset your sensibilities. Locals are more concerned about U.S. tourists bringing the virus with them than about any other tourists, and rightfully so. And since there are causes and effects that can be clearly identified, naming and shaming the culprits should be fair game for discussion.

As bad as many folks are trying to paint the response by Mexico's government, a topic that has always been fair game and which I have gone to great length to respond to, the state of Florida has a worse pandemia problem than the entire country of Mexico. Besides careless people, the people responsible for that are its REPUBLICAN CHUMP SUPPORTING POLITICIANS. I think that bears mentioning. The people preventing the USA from healing itself and who instead are worsening the disease are REPUBLICAN POLITICIANS fomenting careless behavior on the part of their constituents, and because it affects us here that makes it a relevant topic.

I post a lot of local photos and info that barely get a comment, so I'm not sure how many times we have to see the same questions asked and answered over and over, but I prefer being relevant and honest, not all warm and fuzzy and telling potential tourists everything they want to hear whether it's truthful or not, as is common on most other forums. It's a shame if that bothers anyone.

There is relevant and irrelevant political discussion. I tend to tolerate the relevant.

CORRECTION

by Bonnie, wherever you go, there you are..., Thursday, July 16, 2020, 14:36 (72 days ago) @ ZihuaRob

If you are going to attempt to report the latest Covid news from the US with the same level of accuracy with which you are reporting the local stats -- then I hope you won't mind corrections.

What is currently happening in the US is a continuation of the first wave of virus, NOT the second wave as you have stated in error. The second wave is predicted to arrive in the US in tandem with the yearly flu outbreak -- oh my, how could we be so lucky, ehh?....

I thought my statement was particularly relevant. Many (most?) of the Board's readers, and visitors to Zihua, are from the US.
(Seems to me us Canadians are now the majority of foreign visitors :stirpot: to Zihua, but that's for another day)
Trump's incompetent handling of the coronavirus may turn out to be the main reason we are prevented from visiting Zihua this coming season. His incompetence will undoubtedly contribute to Mexico's and Zihua's difficulties in handling the pandemic.
Given his track record so far, does anyone relish having him in the White House when the next pandemic hits?

This thread was started by Rob and called LuZIHendo Bonito but you had to throw Trump in there and change it to a political thread. If people want to start a political thread that's fine with me but let's not throw politics in a thread like this one, which happens way too often on this board.

I read the board and I like to know what's happening when a certain subject appears but suddenly political garbage is thrown in there and that pisses me off. You want to talk politics start a thread with that subject line and I'll know to stay away from it. I get my political info from people that know more than anybody else on this board.

Enough, already!

by jay @, Thursday, July 16, 2020, 20:17 (72 days ago) @ JACK

I was agreeing with you. I was playing it cool. I was going to stay out of the fray on this thread. Then you threw in this:

I get my political info from people that know more than anybody else on this board.

and I had the best laugh of my day. There's no metric, no statistic, no polling anywhere, that suggests Trump will win. In fact all the trends are going the opposite way, and literally everything suggests he'll lose. Now all that could change by election day. Anything can happen and probably will. But anyone looking at the landscape today who tells you they're confident that Trump will win is marking you for a chump. There is nothing to support that. You need to find more reliable sources of information.

Enough, already!

by nicatnit, Sunday, July 19, 2020, 18:10 (69 days ago) @ jay

I think that was his point. He finds political information from other places than this board. What about that was funny?

Enough, already!

by jay @, Sunday, July 19, 2020, 21:46 (69 days ago) @ nicatnit

Upthread he stated with confidence that Trump will win. I assumed his sources were telling him that based on wishes and dreams, but zero real information. I should have made that clear.
