The translation is poor and imprecise, and though my esteemed friend Lic. Bolivar Navarrete was talking about Cerro del Vigía and Riscalillo, two places I've ALWAYS argued for protecting and NOT allowing development, they were never protected, which is a damn shame and a tremendous loss to our community and its future generations, just like the loss of the rest our hillsides that WERE declared protected ecological zones, one of which is where you have your house now.

my subdivision was created 20 years or more in the past. Does this justify further aggravating the problem when more information is available?

I was just stating fact. Everything above the Cota 70 is considered Zona Ecológica Protegida, especially by the older families in spite of what money-grabbing vote-hungry politicians have done with it. The decree that "regularized" your land is a work of corruption carried out by 3 people: an outgoing mayor, an incoming mayor, and the then director of Fibazi, all sanctioned by the state as are most acts of corruption in Guerrero including the invasions by about a million land thieves in Acapulco over the decades, the same plan that is being copied here in Zihuatanejo. All those folks know who they are as do I and most long-time locals. When the zoning was changed from "Zona Ecológica" to "urbanizado", land titles were given to the "poor" people then occupying the parcels, many who had received assistance from well meaning but poorly informed foreigners, but because most of them were part of the scam, they quickly sold, paid the agreed percentage to their leader, and moved on to repeat the scam on other lands. And that's how Zihuatanejo's once beautiful hillsides that we citizens thought were protected for future generations became occupied, urbanized and overbuilt.

Because they got away with it, politicians continue using Zihuatanejo to enrich themselves. Everything else is pure simulation.
