As of today Zihuatanejo has registered a cumulative total of 1,154 confirmed cases of Covid-19, 80 that resulted in fatalities, 51 that are currently active, and 950 that have recovered. As I predicted quite some time ago, owing to the increase in the rate of contagion, as of this coming Monday Guerrero will return to the Semáforo Naranja. ¡Yo se lo dije! Back to 30% capacity for hotels and restaurants and hopefully the closure of bars once again. I also believe the state and local governments are going to get serious about requiring operators and passengers of public transportation to wear facemasks and observe more rigorously safe sanitary practices.

Lupita and I are a little disappointed to see the local government spending a small fortune on decorations for Mes De La Patria when so many people are still in need of basic necessities such as food. Many folks have lost their electric and water connections due to being unable to pay their bills. And here we go doing the Mexican two-step which means some folks who were going back to work may not be able o continue working. ¡Muchas gracias a todos los Covidiotas!

The lodging occupancy in Zihuatanejo remains well below the maximum permitted, so if you are considering coming back to life with us, Zihuatanejo has plenty of lodging space available and we really need visitors. The links on my website allow you to bypass third parties and deal directly with the lodging operators in most cases.

Thank you Rob, for the music and photo. It was my respite from a busy day and made me wonder, how do you find this music? You make it easy to simply push the button and enjoy. It is a pleasure.

It's the music we listen to on the radio and TV as well as on our stereo. Much of the music I post is the music Lupita and I fell in love listening to decades ago. Some is the music we hear at all the parties we used to go to. Many of the wandering musicians such as the Hermanos Morelos know most of the old songs I post. Mexico is an extremely musical country. Why just last night there was a young lady singing under our window at 4 in the morning. ;-)

I was thinking the same thing. Your site is much more than a travel forum. It’s a cultural site and I for one really appreciate what you do. Like the OP said you make it easy for us to just push the button and get immersed in the culture. Combine that with your incredible photo images and I feel a world away from where I am. The music you post reminds me of the playlist form a favorite movie of mine “A Good Year” with Russel Crow. Although it’s about France, the parallel is there. A celebration of things the way they used to be that never gets old. Thanks Rob.
