Another corona casualty?

I have been to Soriana twice in the past week to refill my empty kitchen after being gone for 6 months. The senior citizen baggers( people my age) were absent both visits, today's was around 11 am. Did management remove them due to the virus or what was the reason?

Besides enjoying a bit of small talk with these hardworking folks, I was hoping I could get a part time job. Got to put beer on the table:-)

Soriana and the Bodega limited (possibly still doing it) the age of people in the store to 55 or 60 or under (not real clear), and only one person per family. These rules haven't been strictly adhered to, but the first casualty were the packers due to their age.

Nation wide the baggers have been eliminated, at least for now, for their protection. At Soriana there is a box at some of the registers where you can put cash donations that are distributed to them weekly.

At least here, no one under age 12 is allowed in either Bodega Aurerra, Soriana or Sam's, (which requires a card for each person entering) temps are checked at the doors, sanitizer too. There is no longer an upper age limit, but at least for a while there were a couple of hours set aside for the old farts. I don't think that is still the case. For a while shopping was limited to one family member at a time, but I think that has gone away too.

Time to acquire a new skill-bagging your own groceries!

The virus has a lot of odd twists to daily living, in Alaska I have carried reusable bags for at least 10 yrs at a local Kroger affiliate, about May of this year, the young baggers were no longer allowed to touch my reusable bags so I started bagging my own and slowing down progress as I apologized to those behind me.

In early August it was apparently determined by some higher up that touching my reusable bags would promote the spread of the virus and the baggers went back to filling my bags. I would like to see the old geezers brought back so they could earn a little extra to supplement what for many must be a meager pension or retirement. I suspect many of them would like to come back. Old people power!:jam:

meant to say it was determined in August that touching my reusable bags would not promote the spread of the virus.
