Please provide further information as to the location of Playa Manzanillo and the location of “planned” 1,200 rooms lodging...I believe the snorkeling events have taken us there, but I cannot locate it on any map...

I am not sure if this is precisely where Playa Manzanillo is, but it is on this piece of the coast.

Nope, wrong location, and it's not a "playground" either. I can't figure out how to correct it. I tried. All it did was add Manzanillo Beach in English.

Please see my BEACHES and the Zihuatanejo-Ixtapa Aerial Tour on my MAPS pages. It is easily identifiable on both.

Imagine this on Playa Manzanillo. There is nothing recognizable left of the beach they will try to convert it into, with a friggin pier!

Hopefully we can keep it looking more like this.

Yes, over the hill from La Ropa, not Las Gatas. Google maps finally updated the correction I sent them, so Playa Manzanillo is now correctly marked.

Now I see. It becomes clear why the new "airport short-cut" road was constructed!!!!!!!! Not to mention future land sales. WOW

Exactly, and we taxpayers paid for their road. The monuments to corruption just keep adding up.

Many of your local friends may not even know about it. It would help if you pointed them to my comments here. The local press has barely commented on it, and any comments to the contrary in social media get dismissed. We're talking the LOSS OF PLAYA MANZANILLO, and the local authorities who stand to benefit economically are of course pushing hard for this instead of protecting this precious jewel.

For evil to win it's only necessary that good people do nothing.

Here's our complaint to one of the e-mail contacts, (Atencion Ciudadana) and their reply. As you can probably guess, I sent our complaint in Spanish, via Google translate. Can anyone summarize their response in English?

Our complaint:

The reply:

Atentamente.

Unfortunately you alleged that an act of corruption was taking place, so they invited you to document and denounce it to the Procuraduría Federal de Protección al Ambiente. While we may all suspect there is corruption involved, it isn't the strategy I would follow, especially since there is no obvious proof other than circumstantial. In Mexico "papelito habla". They also invited you to read the new law outlawing the privatizing of beaches and requiring public access, another wonderful Mexican law that looks great on paper, but that I doubt we will ever actually see implemented like so many other wonderful laws we have.

At least you got their attention and yet another record of a complaint over this project is now on the official record. They will have to take notice as the complaints keep rolling in. You did good! ¡Gracias!

Interesting. My original draft stated ".....cada vez más politicos corruptos y sus amigos promotores de tierras...." but I thought that might get me a posting on the nosy foreigners list, so I deleted it. Obviously, the word "corrupt" was unnecessary.

I wonder if I'll get a similar response from uenlace@conanp
