Guerrero, like other tourist destinations, is being hit hard by the third wave of the Covid-19 pandemia. Zihuatanejo currently registers 60 active cases, a number we haven't seen since last February. Yet the local government is apparently not yet taking the matter seriously, instead planning for children's events that will likely lead to an increase in infections. Let's hope they snap out of their stupor.

The Autopista Siglo XXI has continued to be blocked intermittently. Though people are getting through, I've communicated with various people who said the trip from Morelia is taking as long as 9 hours due to the detours. The Parhikuni bus line has stopped service to much of the Tierra Caliente and other areas where there have been conflicts between groups of armed delincuentes organizados. Bummer.

On a personal note, my family and I are still in a fog and are on autopilot while coping with our grief. We are still accepting contributions to pay the hospital, and there is no way to express our gratitude for your all's kindness and generosity. I still can't express myself very well or keep up with a lot of the goings on. I'm barely getting any work done, but I'm trying. We all are. Such a bright light in our family suddenly gone...

Enjoy the restaurants and movie theaters while they remain fully open. We may be back under Semáforo Amarilla or Naranja soon.
