Zihuatanejo currently reports 13 active cases of Covid-19. Both La Unión and Petatlán report 1 active case each. My wife and I remain impressed and encouraged by the number of people we see wearing their facemasks when around others. The new Secretario de Turismo del Estado de Guerrero says he expects hotels will be operating at 80% capacity by the year's end.

The waves seemed to have calmed down, but yesterday afternoon a tourist had a rough time with the currents at Playa Larga. Fortunately he was rescued alive. Please stay safe and alert when in the ocean.

Looked like it might rain this evening but so far nothing. It was a bit warm today, but nothing fans and cool drinks couldn't fix. I've always loved being able to shower in the tropics without needing any hot water.

Whales should be showing up soon. Hire a guide and go see them close up.

There were lots of tourists on the downtown beach this morning, making a last stop to enjoy the sunrise before heading back home.

Yes, the people I recommend are in the link I posted in my previous message.

If you want to go with a group of people in extreme comfort then nothing beats the Picante catamaran. If you want a more intimate bare bones encounter in a local panga then Ramón Olea is your guy. And there are others I also recommend depending on your comfort needs. While there are no guarantees of seeing whales up close, a day on the water with any of the folks I list is well worth the time, effort and cost.
