Mexico COVID Forms-Online

by mcnuttja, Wednesday, December 01, 2021, 08:32 (216 days ago)

I must be getting old, can I get some guidance regarding the Mexico Covid form on-line, located at vuelaseguro.com? I am flying from US. Am I required to file this form on-line or is it "handled" at the Customs Counter?

Thanks in advance!

Fill it out no earlier than 12 hours before flight time online. You can probably fill out a paper form at check-in but much easier to have it all done before you get to the airport.

Good luck!

I clicked on it and it said that it can be filled out after arrival. Has anybody found that to be accurate?

Why would you want to wait until after arriving to fill out any forms? Do it before you leave!

We did ours online at the airport,in Seattle, got the “good to go” green check, took a screen shot, saved it. Nobody asked for it.

Nobody asked for it.<<<

Same thing happened to us Timmac --- both on the way to Zihua and during our return to Canada. We downloaded and filled out the MEDPREV questionnaire, got the green check mark from the Vuela Seguro application and pre-filled our Immigration Form.

The only form we were asked for upon entry to Mexico was our Immigration Form and on our return trip to Canada we had to produce only the results of our PCR test before boarding our flight to Mexico City.

The goofy ArriveCan requirement along with the PCR test was a total waste of time because nobody at the Vancouver Airport asked us for the ArriveCan Code plus we were "randomly" chosen (along with dozens more) to take another PCR test at no charge (unlike the CAN$375 paid in Zihua) before we could exit the airport.

We received the results the following morning (negative) but have been required to record and list all the places we've been and the names of persons we've been in contact with for 14 days after arrival.

One more day to go.... :woohoo:

What exactly does 12 hours before flight time mean? Is it 12 hours before our first flight or the flight that takes us into Mexico? There are no direct flights where we live. If we have to wait until 12 hours before the flight that takes us into Mexico, that will likely mean we are already en route without good access to the internet. While I have a smart phone, I don't like using it for anything as important as completing such a form would be and my travel companion does not have one.

This question is theoretical at this point. Don't see us making it back to Mexico until later in 2022, and even that is still in the early discussion stage.

Yes it is 12 hours before the flight that enters Mexico. The reason they want a digital version is that the website won't allow you to fill in the information before the 12 hours. Paper you can fill in anytime. They want the most up-to-date reporting of your health. It's all just an illusion of protection.

I think it’s more of a contact tracing function which is a good idea if it we’re actually be being usd.

The form is meant to be filled out online. They used to accept a paper version everywhere but having just flown through Mexico City, they required the online version. It is very easy to fill out online but as someone already said, it can't be done more than 12 hours ahead. Once filled out you show the website with the big check mark on it at entry. To make it easier and in case getting a good cell signal might be a problem, my husband and I took a picture of the big check mark page and showed that with no problems.
I too was very anxious and confused by the whole thing but in the end it was easy.

If I have to choose between pulling my computer out of its bag, starting it up and finding the site, or pulling a piece of paper out of my pocket, the latter strikes me as easier. Since I'm an old fart, doing all this electronic stuff is getting increasingly difficult.

Time to join the 21st century and invest in a smart phone. You're only making life harder for yourself than it has to be by not having one.

I would argue that you are actually being manipulated more by having to print, fill out by hand, and possibly mail forms with no assurance that they would be received.

Well, based upon the responses(all over the map) I'll try the on-line version prior to leaving the LAX.

Regarding, smart phones and like technology, I retired from a career in IT, the last fifteen as an Information Technology Project Manager. The greatest hurdle I found in technology is "man's" strong desire to avoid change of any kind, whether it's beneficial or not. But and I mean BUT, that change must have a logical implementation and utilization. In the case of the FORM I have asked about, from the responses here LOGIC of UTILIZATION appears to be missing ......

Thanks for the information and assistance!!

Since I quit smoking, I've tried to avoid other addictions as well....like cellphones. I cannot understand why people have this neurotic need to be contacted 24/7. I still recoil when I hear some moron in the fruits and vegetable section of a supermarket asking, always in an excessively loud voice; "Honey, did you say we needed broccoli?"
Let the invective begin.

Gee, when I quit smoking I never experienced YOUR rather creepy side effects. Such an odd comment for someone playing on the internet to make. ;-)

Having any tool, including a mobile device, has never been an addiction to me, and neither should it be for any other healthy human in control of their faculties.

A friend of mine came to visit us in Anchorage, a number of years ago and took us out to dinner. At an adjoining table sat 4 young women. Each one of them was staring at a cell phone and not a word was spoken throughout the time we were "neighbors". Really creepy.

I think when you do it online, it gets built into your boarding pass. Never been asked for anything other than passport and boarding pass.

I doubt it, as the information you put in the form would not guarantee a match, plus their program in our case would have to connect with both Alaska's and TSA. It seems to me it isa contact tracing form, and like many of the hoops we are jumping through would seem to do very little to either identify or prevent spread.

I tried unsuccessfully and repeatedly to complete the online form in October.

No one asked for the form pre-boarding. I arrived in Mexico City on October 13. No one asked for the form when I arrived.

Today we had to show the green check mark to clear security for departure. No one checked for it on arrival.

Thanks for your info. We are flying to Zihua on Sunday for our first return since Feb 2020!

I hope you can help clarify. Are you saying that you had to show it at the airport to clear security for departure as you were leaving a US airport heading to Mexico? Or at the Mexican airport as you were leaving Mexico?

That is correct we had it ready to go on arrival from LAX, but nobody asked for it. We had to show it to enter security, along with our passport and ticket.

I’m sorry, I edited my message but you so quickly and graciously replied. It sounds like you needed it to leave Zihua. If I understand that correctly, was it the same green check mark you secured days or weeks earlier, or did you need to go through the online process again just before you departed Mexico?

The reason you must fill out the form 12 hours or less before departure, is that it is only valid for 12 hours. So you need a completely new one.

Muchas gracias for your help here. I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t confusing myself. While reading this thread I can understand why it’s necessary upon arrival (although your experience has been the opposite). The thing that throws me is Mexico apparently now wanting this form completed again before you LEAVE their country. Other than you relaying your experience, I wouldn’t have been aware of that. I guess we need to make sure we fill it out 2x now.

We flew through Mexico City November 13 and 20 and they did ask for it both ways. There didn't appear to have a paper option. They had about 7 people there to help you do it on your phone.
I am sure it was probably pretty lax when it was first introduced but it is not now, especially since this new variant is in the picture. Better to be ready to be asked.

3. Create a traveler profile at vuelaseguro.com

• All Mexico airports require the use of this online portal for health verification.
• Log in within 12 hours of arrival into and departure from Mexico to complete the mandatory 'Questionnaire of Identification of Risk Factors in Travelers' document. It may also be helpful to take a screenshot with your phone or print a copy of the QR code to carry with you.
• You will be asked to present the QR code prior to entering security for departures from Mexico. You may also be asked to present the QR code from the online form at immigration on arrival into Mexico.
• When departing Mexico, we recommend completing your questionnaire before departing your hotel or resort, as internet connection may not be reliable at the airport.
