Dogs on Playa el Palmar, Ixtapa

A question for Rob:
Alex, the owner of Ixtapa Guau, "Wow", the canine hotel, tells us that Playa el Palmar no longer allows any dogs on the beach. Do you know what is behind this and, if true, how this is being enforced. We are traveling with two tiny toy poodles and would like to share some beach time with them while staying at Pacifica Club. Also, what is the status of pet-friendly for other beaches in the area. Thanks for helping us out with this inquiry.

Ruined a good beach

That's the new law on the region's only "playa certificada", so I haven't been to the beach there since. I think the law sucks big time. Too Miami-friggin'-Beach for me. They can keep it! There are better beaches where a mutt can spend time and money and lift a leg now and then without the Orwellian repression. Know what I mean? ;-)

Can a business actually have a say as to who or what is allowed on the beach in front of their property? It seems this was discussed a few years ago here, but I don't remember who would be the beach police if one business was setting out rules over certain stretches of beach. It was always my understanding that a person or business only owned up to the high tide mark and as the pacific coast line has had some pretty high tides over the years, this could mean alot. Probably a different story in Mx????:-|
