Hurricane season - Time for a house party?

by ZihuaRob ⌂ @, Zihuatanejo, Gro. México, Thursday, June 14, 2012, 08:42 (343 days ago)

The Servicio Meteorológico Nacional has issued a warning for the coast of Guerrero due to a tropical disturbance located in the Golfo de Tehuantepec. This means the likelihood of heavy rains and winds and all the fun and games that entails for residents along the coast. We've got until the weekend to get our acts together. Don't wait until the last minute!

Keep up with our local weather via the links on my Zihuatanejo Weather page. :brilliant:

Time for a House Party?

INDEED....!

And, should I close The Deal up on 'The Cerro' currently on-the-table for a July 1 'entry', then we'd be HAPPY to host such an event.....

If that "Cerro" is of the "Del Vigia" variety, Rob might not be the guy to invite up. As I recall he was a tad outspoken in his opposition to the whole development. But maybe he's mellowed.

Man, who slipped you a rancid lime?

My opposition had to do with the process of how the land on that hill came to be swapped for a shady municipal debt and the concurrent illegal zoning change that permitted development above the 70-meter mark in Zihuatanejo's amphitheater.

Sorry, I guess I misread your 21 Feb/06 post:

"Cerro del Vigía proceeds at full blast with the destruction of what the native Zihuatanejo community still considers its ecological zone. It appears that any legal impediments (and I use the term "legal" very loosely since this is arguably the biggest land theft scam and act of corruption by public officials across the political spectrum in the history of Zihuatanejo) were overcome for the time being since heavy equipment can be seen operating there daily. I believe this was one of the stupidest developments ever permitted here and certainly the most treasonous act ever perpetrated by local public officials, obviously with help and proper persuasion from higher-ups and other "influentials". "

I hate to ruin your strained attempt at a "gotcha" moment, but that post from 8 years ago was before I was aware of details such as that the developer wasn't involved in the land-for-debt swap but was also a victim of the corrupt municipal government at that time. They also went to extreme measures to ameliorate their environmental impact, installing an impressive system of drainage and sewage systems that will help protect our bay and not contribute to local service problems. In contrast, other similar local developments pale in comparison. While I wish the hill were still an ecological zone, a previous slimebag politician changed that and it is not the fault of the developer.

Aaaaaaah, Gracias carnal..... y Muchisimas Gracias to your Mum; to always dulce Dulce; and to the ever-efficient and thoroughly engaging Gloria!

Its not a 'done deal' yet, mate (see the "Speaking of Storms" above!!) as there is some $ still on the table (!), though today IS but another new emerging day...... in Paradise.

And speaking of Dragons, my THOROUGHLY 'domesticated' Oaxacan bride is yet STILL a (traditionally) "holy" Slayer-of-Slayers!! And when SHE "BYOs".... well..... it ain't no alcohol (in Arrazola or elsewhere)!!
