Tourist town at a crossroads:
"Today's story is a general update on the situation in the town of Zihuatanejo on Mexico's Pacific Coast."
Salem, Oregon newspaper article .
Not much we haven't already read here on ZihuaRob's, but interesting to see how it's presented.

Reasonable story...too bad it's in the Salem News which often carries distortion-filled garbage and outright support for terrorism. One of their favourite correspondents, is a passport-burning weirdo named Ken O'keefe, who went from being a "human Shield" for Saddam to being a mouthpiece for Hamas in Gaza strip.

Yes. Of course some stories receive various forms of syndication and appear in different places. All part of how columnists make a living. Publications of all sorts need inexpensive fillers of general interest.

Just my point was that Salemnews.com and its sister internet publication veteranstoday.com are not where I would go for reputable, believable information.

F'rinstance, here is a bizarre story in that Salem news about the editor's buddy's tattoos. And his freaky buddy, always described glowingly as a heroic "ex-US marine," is an ex-marine all right. Less-than-honorably Discharged for illegal steroid use while in service.

Matter of fact, I've got it right here:

Islandgirl (short for Isand Woman)was born at a very early age. At the tender age of 3, she exhibited an unusual facility in playing the bassoon. By 10, she had mastered power-train mechanics, taxidermy and was offered a position as a wind-tunnel engineer by the National Aeronautic and Space Administration, working in Houston, Texas until her retirement at the ripe old age of 23.

Married for 10 years, she has twelve children, 4 dogs, a pet iguana, and a seal that she found wounded in Cowichan Bay, Vancouver Island and rescued it and nursed it back to health and taught to play the violin and drive automobiles with standard transmission.

There's more.

But I'll talk about growing hothouse orchids and discovering a cure for the common cold in my next post.
