Perfume RANT

Out for dinner Wednesday evening in Madera near the taxi stand and as we're enjoying the last bite or two of dinner a tourist walks in to join a group and sits down 5' behind us. We were just about blown over by the excessive amount of perfume being worn. She then starts using a hand fan which blew it towards us. Eyes watering...we got our bill and leave faster than we would have liked.

In Canada she would be refused entry to all Hospitals and many other "scent free" zones. We would have moved tables (which we've done) and possibly even said something. It was so late into our meal that we chose to let things be rather than potentially causing a scene with her and the other 7 people at her table.

Interested to see how others would deal with this. Rant away.;-)

There are people who practice daily hygene on a monthly basis and I wonder if you would let them know that they were offensive. I dont particularly like cigarrette smoke, perfume that I dont like, loud music or and the list could go on and on but at some point I feel like intolerance is as or more offensive than any of the bad habits. I get the sense that a lot of people enter a room and take note on what people are doing, wearing, smoking or drinking that pisses them off and then make it their business to make everyone aware of their distaste. Smokers are going to smoke and I find that most of them seem to try and do so respectfully and perfume wearers for the most part seem to do so with restraint and if I find it offensive I just try to move downwind. I dont think it is necessary to embarrass or make an issue out of something that is going to affect me in a small way for a short time.
