Semana de Pascua (Week 2)

The week of Semana Santa typically always draws one type of crowd who seems to arrive en masse and spend very little money while leaving enormous amounts of garbage behind, while the week of Semana de Pascua typically sees less crowds but a higher caliber tourist in terms of education and spending power. The contrast between the two can be quite stark.

I would like to take a moment to state that although we get a lot of families who seem to bring everything with them including 3 generations of relatives and everything they plan to consume, older locals who understand our tourism know that many of these people make great sacrifices to come here, often hocking their meager family jewelry and even their TVs to afford a day or 3 with their family at the beach. Many are single parents, and most all of these families go to great lengths to make sure their kids have the best times, buying them beach toys and other paraphernalia they won't use for another year or two, if ever again. These humble families are the heart and soul of Mexico, and we'd do well to be as welcoming and accommodating to them as we can, to share our paradise and to appreciate the love in their family bonds. They are the proverbial salt of the earth.
