Is it Real yet?

In the late 90s my wife had a lot of pain from various problems. Her Dr said, "You don't have to be in pain. The medical profession says no patient has to be in pain. I'll write you a prescription for Oxy". And therein started a long history of drug use for her. Oxy was prescribed like candy-up to six a day with 90 day prescriptions with 3 refills. This went on until a couple of years ago when the powers that be decided enough is enough. Today all Drs except Pain Management Specialists are limited to prescribing a 7 da supply with no refills. This new specialty, Pain Management, seeks to find the cause of and treat actual pain and then attempts to treat the addiction. I'm not sure it works.

BTW, based on my recent experience every state has "assisted end of life". It is called Hospice who comes in when you have a terminal illness and feeds you painkillers to eliminate the pain (actually to "numb" you out of your mid). Dosages and products are added as addiction kicks in and the body demands more and more. My wife was getting 30mgmorphine every two hours. No end of life pain, just totally numbed out.
