I meant to post this last week. Oops.

You will remember that in September of 2009 Alisa rode her bicycle from Zihua to OKC in benefit of a casa Hogar for "ancianos en abandono" being constructed. It was posted on your message board and people followed her ride.

Now 8 years later at 50 years of age she is going to finish the ride and go from Z to Red Deer Alberta Canada. She estimates 50 days with a number of stops to share our history, work and needs. Many Mexicans have helped in a variety of ways. She was on the radio twice last week sharing about this journey.

I am a founder of Bet Shalom and really believe in what we are doing and in how. We saw the need and responded all those years ago. Many were the times when I carried most of the responsibility but now we are few but the few committed to the work. Our president and myself are Mexicans. Our treasurer is Alisa. Our administrator, accountant social worker and all medical doctors are Mexican volunteers. Caregivers are all Mexican.

What Alisa did all those years ago made a huge difference and construction started the following June in 2010.

We just need doors to our final 6 (2 person) rooms and furniture and we will have room for 12 more persons of the " third age" who are in a state of abandonment or who are at risk for other reasons.

We follow careful procedures and are not supported by any government institution although DIF de la Union has kicked in occasionally for a gentleman from there who has special needs and care.

Our Home runs on donations.

People can follow us on Facebook at Hablando Menos Amando Más or follow Alisa's journey at FB Finish Well Ride or her webpage under the same name.

Thanks for any help you might give on helping us to help others.
