In The Tune Of Zih

Last Sunday morning my sweetie and I decided to enjoy breakfast at Deborah's Restaurant in Ixtapa. As usual, the food was superbly delicious and the service as good as it gets. The only thing that disappointed us was that the restaurant wasn't full. Sunday morning during the peak of summer vacation should see all the Ixtapa restaurants that serve breakfast doing a booming business, but there were only 5 or 6 other tables occupied, and almost nobody walking along the boulevard or in the shopping centers. It certainly was a stark reminder of how All-Inclusive hotels in Ixtapa's Zona Hotelera I continue to hurt the local economy. Nevertheless, it was great to see Deborah! We so enjoy our Sunday breakfasts at her place.

I heard a disconcerting rumor that the parking lot in front of Ixtapa's Merza store will be converted into a cafeteria. I can only guess that if true this is a ploy by someone well connected with Fonatur. I certainly hope it isn't true, but if it is we'll have to organize and protest it because Ixtapa is already short on parking spaces and we count on that particular parking lot to be able to eat at Deborah's. I doubt Deborah or any of the other local shop owners are happy about this rumor. And the last thing Ixtapa needs is another restaurant at this time.

I suspect whoever sleeps in this hammock is also stealing sea turtle eggs as the turtles come to the beach at night to lay them.

A lovely little garden area at the Los Patios shopping center in Ixtapa.

The moon was simply awesome as it rose over the bay last evening.

Our friend Gabriel Torres was getting his cruiser ready for a sportfishing charter this morning.

Home sweet home!
