Such a shame to see Zihuatanejo falling apart like this year after year.
Tourists will certainly look elsewhere if this continues.

My heart goes out to the people of Zihuatanejo. All of the problem areas you have brought to our attention and I too have seen first hand, certainly need to be fixed before there's a major disaster.

I couldn't agree with you more. When so much infrastructure is simply allowed to deteriorate to the point of presenting a danger, the shiny object that Zihuatanejo once was loses its lustre and appeal. But our mayor is constantly posing for photos with potential voters in new sections of roads and walkways high on our hillsides where only flora and fauna should be living. Meanwhile, our tourism gets poorer and the ones who actually sustain our economy stop coming, though the big con by politicians and public servants is that our tourism is only "changing with the times". No, our tourists with the spending power that has historically sustained us are being driven away by the incompetence of our so-called public servants. I've been discussing and documenting it for decades now. There's no doubt where the problem is.

Fortunately my saint of a wife had some good ideas regarding whom to contact this morning about the problem with the canal, and some of our more trustworthy public officials whom we know love Zihuatanejo are documenting the problem at this moment. A good first step towards resolving te problem.
