The reason(s) for currency fluctuation are usually due to the strength of a country's economy compared to the other country. In the case of Mexico, oil is a huge part of the economy, so fluctuations in the price have a big influence. It has little to do with which idiot is in the White House.

Regardless of what Trump or Obama does/did, it has little impact on the exchange rate. A country may want their currency to be strong or weak for many different reasons.

As an admittedly well-over the hill financial consultant, I would counter that it's a leap of faith to assume that markets act in a logical manner...
