On Zih Inside Lookin' Out

El Cordonazo de Santa Teresa arrived a few days late, but the sonorous thunderstorm this madrugada that brought cooler temps was just what we'd been waiting for. At the beginning and end of the rainy season we go through a period where the heat and humidity build up to almost intolerable levels, and they usually trigger thunderstorms that blow through quickly and leave us feeling refreshed.

And of course the rain washes away the stench of urine from all the borrachos. A big deal when irresponsible public servants allow our peaceful neighborhood to become an open-air all-night-long cantina.

Daniel's Restaurant has reopened after a little break. Good food at a great location for folks who enjoy people watching and keeping up with the goings on at the main plaza.

Lupita wanted me to give an extra thanks to the kind folks who have been dropping off donated glasses for her to distribute to needy people. The gift of vision and especially being able to read is something we often take for granted, but for a lot of elderly folks trying to survive on extremely tight budgets choosing between food, medicine and things like reading glasses make for tough choices, and it truly gladdens my saint of a wife to be able to help make lives better for her lifelong friends and neighbors. ¡Muchas gracias!
